Cosey v. E. D. Bullard Co.
This case involved 12 shipyard workers who were exposed to asbestos and
developed lung cancer after working in shipyards. With the help of our firm, the
workers sued several manufacturers and distributors of asbestos, including
Owens-Corning Fiberglass Corp., Shook & Fletcher Insulation Co., the GAF Corp.,
Flintkote Co., and Crossfield Products Corp. In June of 1998, a Jefferson
County, Mississippi jury awarded the workers $48.5 million, concluding that
Owens-Corning should pay the largest share of the judgment—$26.57 million.
In addition to earning one of the highest jury awards in the history of this
state, the case also proved to be legally significant, changing the way cases
